Well, as it turns out I'm going to have to be on another diet! This time I have to follow a special diet for diabetes. It came as a surprise to my family and I. My parents always thought they would be the first one to get something like this but it turned out to be me. It's going to take some getting used to. The doctor advised me to try not to give myself too much of a hard time at first because it's going to be a big adjustment. I'm wondering how it's going to affect my friendships. I know it probably sounds silly to worry about something like that but I'm going to have to be more picky about what I eat and when. I'm hoping they still want to get together with me even though I will probably be passing on the usual pizza and soft drinks on our movie nights and football game outings. I have to say that I do have a really nice and understanding group of friends so I don't think there will be any problems. My doctor said it's normal to worry about things like that. Like I said, it will take a little getting used to but I will get through it!
