I was waiting to board a passenger flight at Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Airport when there was this sudden horrible sound apparently coming from a nearby hangar. What happened, we were told, was that an airline mechanic hurt himself when he tried to jump down from a wing on which he was suspended, with only one of those aerial carriage thingies to get back into. Following up on this frightening story, I found out that he lived but was taken to a hospital in serious condition, and must now spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. The entire top half of his body was paralyzed in this accident. What a nightmare! Now he is undergoing complete physical therapy, at the very least, to try and talk properly again. His head was partially traumatized, but he can’t move his arms and shoulders at all and his chest was paralyzed as well. He is being taught how to eat all over again, just as though he were an infant. I feel so awful for this guy. He was also visited by a personal injury attorney in Dallas, thus litigation procedures against Sunlight Airlines have officially begun. I wish him the best of luck—he’ll probably need it. No one knows why he tried to escape from the wing he was working on, and no one knows how the aerial connection vehicle got out of his grasp.
