When both my mother and my father needed to get eye surgery done, they insisted on getting Lasik in Miami, Florida of all places. Why get Lasik in Miami when they could have gotten it right here in Chicago, IL? Because since they’re getting eye surgery, they want to do it in style and stay at this really expensive hotel down on the beach with palm trees and pink cocktails with fruit in them and all that. After the Lasik, they want the first things they see to be absolutely beautiful. I know, I know. They already gave me the lecture. They know the first things they’ll probably see after the procedure are each other and that they are both beautiful inside and out no matter how old each of them are. But that’s why they don’t count in being “the first things they’ll see after the procedure.” They would think the other is beautiful no matter what. If they just wanted that, they could have stayed up here in Chicago. Really, I think they just wanted an excuse to go on a vacation somewhere exotic and warm. They never really went anywhere when they were younger and now they’re both retired and have saved up enough money.
